Welcome to the Hello Felt! virtual classroom, your first step in the path of learning the little known and exciting craft of needle felting!
I am so very excited to offer an art filled creative course in the form of Needle Felting instruction, prompts, downloads, and more! The classroom is open within 2-48 hours of you purchasing this listing.
This class is NOT interactive, and there is NO scheduled start time when it comes to taking this class! Since this course is now "open for admission", you can access the class content via a password protected website anytime, on any day YOU choose, and at the time of YOUR choice. You might elect to go through the class lessons all in one day, or may take a week or two to go through the lessons at a slower pace. The choice is yours! Class content will be open for you for at least an additional 6 months after you purchase the class.
INTRO to Needle Felting is for anyone who is interested in learning the BASICS of needle felting, how to use needle felting tools, how to create sculpted art forms using the proper needle felting techniques, and what sorts of substrates you can needle felt onto. Whether you are a beginner who has never done any needle felting before, or someone who has dabbled at the craft successfully - or unsuccessfully! I will get you set on the right track. No matter where you are on your creative path, if you are willing to explore and play, then this class is right for you!
You may have purchased a needle felting kit or supplies and do not know how to get started. Or, maybe you've watched those YouTube videos and still feel lost. My method of teaching will resolve all your questions, and show you how to create amazing needle felted art creations. Your creations will be formed correctly, not collapse on itself over time, and will open the door to a craft you can work on anywhere, anytime. After this class, you will feel comfortable in knowing the basics of needle felting, and how to create a dimensional figure,
Through several step-by-step high-quality instructional videos where I work side-by-side with novice needle felters, real life questions and answers, supportive encouragement, and feedback from students in the videos, you will learn the miraculous way wool is sculpturally shaped by delicate barbed needles, and the way to wool grabs into the base fabric you are needle felting onto. You will feel like we are working side-by-side as you view the videos in the comfort of your home or studio. You will feel like I am teaching and supporting you as you create your projects at your own pace.
+++ For students desiring additional 1-on-1 personalized instruction from me, you will be able to purchase a separate listing (Available NOW in my shop under the Classes and Patterns section) for a 20-25 minute Skype or iChat session in the privacy of your home or studio. Even though I will not be able to physically touch your work, I will be able to look at your progress over the computer screen, give you feedback to assist you getting the result you want, can help you to correct any problems you are having and get you quickly back on the right track. You will need to purchase your own tools and supplies in order to create to art in the videos. *NOTE: I aim to provide a basic tool kit, and will post the link here as soon as it is up.
** Also, please NOTE: These classes are focused on DRY needle felting. This is NOT WET felting or Nuno felting. NO water, access to sinks, or anything having to do with water based felting techniques are involved in any of my classes. The type of dry needle felting I teach is done with loose wool fiber and barbed needles with a backing mat. Projects can be done sitting in a chair and working on your lap.This is a fantastic craft, and I can guarantee that wth a bit of patience and some creativity, you will adore this wonderful craft, and all the amazing art you create!
